I believe the most beautiful things are created when you think less and feel more.

ABOUT ME

I am a Syrian-Dutch filmmaker and artist currently studying Film at the University of the Arts Utrecht (HKU), where I have been developing my practice since 2023. In April 2025, my first-year film Van Dichtbij received the Best Director and Best Actress awards at the Indy Film Library Awards.

My primary focus is documentary filmmaking, with a strong interest in hybrid forms that move between documentary and fiction. I am committed to finding the narrative and visual form that best supports the emotional and thematic core of each project. I have completed internships at IDFA, NPO Zapp, MovieZone, and Cinekid, and worked as a director’s assistant on the Golden Calf–winning film Close Your Eyes, Hind by Amir Zaza.

In 2022, I studied Philosophy for one year at the University of Amsterdam (UvA), which continues to inform my interest in psychological and existential themes. Alongside filmmaking, I work with drawing and singing as complementary creative practices. Collaboration, openness, and ongoing artistic development are central to my approach as a filmmaker.

MISSION STATMENT

As a filmmaker, I am deeply interested in human psychology—the inner world and the ways we relate to it.
My strength lies in visualising emotions and inner experiences through a hybrid approach, where I feel free to blend fiction and documentary elements as long as they serve the purpose of the film.
By listening deeply, observing closely, and building strong connections with people, I bring vulnerability and layered storytelling to the screen.
